    School Tours

We invite you to come learn more about our school.  Our tours are an excellent opportunity for families to visit classrooms and learn about instructional and extra-curricular programs.  It is the perfect opportunity to ask any questions you might have.

We hope to see you on one of our tours!

    • We offer school tours beginning in January 2019. They will continue through early March of 2019.

    A Message From Our Principal

    Dear Lockhurst Families,

Thursday - Mr. Bonilla and I will be reviewing with 1st - 5th grade students the safe procedures for playing soccer on the yard each day at recess and lunch.  This will allow our students to return to playing soccer more regularly and work together in a less competitive and safer fashion.  We will also have our November Fire/Drop Drill in the afternoon following lunch that day.

Friday will be a minimum day with a 12:42pm dismissal and our last day of school prior to our one week Thanksgiving Break.  There will be no school from Nov. 19th - 23rd with school returning on the 26th for 3 weeks prior to the Winter Break.  Winter Break will be from Dec. 17th - Jan.4th.  It is hard to believe the holidays are right around the corner.

Lastly, I want to thank Mrs. Forbes, our librarian and the many volunteers who helped to organize an extremely successful Fall Book Fair last week.  The organization, creativity, and hard work is so appreciated as it was a huge success.  Funds from the Book Fair will be used to update the technology and books in the library.  THANK YOU PTO!!!

This is all for now.  Your Lockhurst Principal, Mrs. DaCorsi

    Pedestrian and Traffic Safety Tips

    Dear Lockhurst Parents,

As you all know our children’s safety is extremely important to me each day.  With this, I am asking for everyone’s assistance when picking up and dropping off your children each day.  Below are pedestrian and traffic safety tips.

    • Always use a crosswalk, never cross in the middle of any street.
    • Students and parents are expected to USE THE CROSSWALKS AT ALL TIMES. NO JAYWALKING!
    • Always look both ways before crossing, even if you’re in a crosswalk.
    • Please use caution and be considerate of other drivers. DO NOT MAKE 3-point or U-turns in the  middle of the street.
    • No double-stopping/parking. Please be respectful of our neighbors
    • Texting while driving is illegal and unsafe. Drivers must concentrate on the road, not their cellphones.
    • Completely stop at every stop sign. We do not have crossing guards so please look out for pedestrians.
    • Slow down! Children can be unpredictable and could run out into your driving path.
    • No stopping in the middle of the road to drop off or pick up students.

    Car Valet Program

    • Please enter and exit the valet line cautiously. Slow down!
    • When dropping students off, use a clockwise pattern around the school, if applicable.
    • Have children exit the car from the curbside only.
    • Have your child’s backpack, lunch box, and/or musical instruments with them before they exit, not in the trunk.

Peak traffic times are between 7:40am – 8:00am and for the first 20 minutes immediately after school in the afternoons. Please be mindful of the rules above to ensure the safety of our children.

I thank you for your support with helping to keep our students and the streets around our school safe.  Please feel free to stop by the office in the morning or just prior to dismissal to pick up a valet vest to volunteer your time in the valet program.  A few minutes each day can help to prevent a situation in the future and help to enforce a safe environment for our students to come to and from school.

Please be sure to inform the office if your address changes at any time during the school year.  You will need to bring in verification of your new address (DWP bill, Gas bill, rental agreement, escrow papers, mortgage statement).

Student Emergency Information Cards are being mailed home to all students prior to the start of school.  Please fill them out, sign them and return them by the first day of school.  You can update or fill out a new card anytime during the school year.

    Thank you.
