    A Message from our principal

    October 20, 2019

    Good Evening Drive Families,

This week we will have an exciting week with a variety of Red Ribbon Week activities going on each day to help promote drug and tobacco prevention.

Monday - On Monday it will be put a cap drugs where children can wear appropriate baseball caps to school.  Also the winners of the World's Finest Chocolate sales will participate in an ice cream party at the lunch pavilion at 1:45 pm with the support of PTO.

Tuesday - On Tuesday students can wear red to promote making smart choices to avoid drugs.

Wednesday - On Wednesday it is Shade Out drugs -  children can wear shades to school.   At 8:15 a.m. we will have our October ELAC meeting in the library. At 2:30 p.m. will be our first Leadership Council meeting in the library to confirm members of the council and begin our discussion and planning for the year.  Make up picture day was scheduled for this Wednesday but it has been postponed to the following week with proofs being sent home this week. Lastly, thanks to our supportive PTO, Cabrillo Marine Aquarium will provide their engaging presentation to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes.

Thursday - On Thursday it will be Backwards Day where everyone can wear their clothing items backwards.  Cabrillo Marine Aquarium will continue their presentation with TK, Kinder, and 1st grade classes.  At 8:30 a.m., we will have our next school tour in the library.  Please help us spread the word to any wonderful families interested in coming and learning about Lockhurst for the next school year.

Friday - On Friday, it will be School Spirit Day where everyone is encouraged to wear their Lockhurst gear and we share the Red Ribbon pledge at the morning assembly.  It will also be our final Cabrillo Marine Aquarium presentation for 1st and 2nd grade classes.  Thank you PTO and those parents who have supported the parent fund as this is what helps to make our student enrichment and assemblies possible for our children.  Your support is greatly appreciated!

Lastly, I hope to see you all at our Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 26th from 4:30 - 8:30 p.m.  There will be fun for all with a haunted house thanks to our 5th grade families, food, family made games, Trunk or Treat, and many more fun activities.  All are welcome to come in school appropriate costumes to the event and have tons of fun.

I hope you have a nice remainder of the weekend.  Thank you for your continued support.  This is all for now.

    Your Lockhurst Principal,

    Mrs. DaCorsi
