School Tours

  • School tours will begin in January 2018.  Please check back for specific dates.

We invite you to come learn more about our school.  Our tours are an excellent opportunity for families to visit classrooms and learn about instructional and extra-curricular programs.  It is the perfect opportunity to ask any questions you might have.

We hope to see you on one of our tours!

Hello Drive Families!

Thank you to the families who volunteered their time and who came out to support our successful October Movie Night. We had a great turn out with many wonderful donations from our 5th grade parents along with the creation of some amazing tombstones for our Fall Festival on October 28th from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tombstones can still be ordered online and decorated by your family this week. Details will be provided by PTO.

This week we will have our annual Fall Earthquake Drill on Thursday, October 19th at 10:30 a.m. Please remind your children of the importance of following directions and procedures during a drill, as the teachers will also be reviewing what is expected with the students too.

This week we will have our next ELAC meeting on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in the Parent Center and SSC/Governance meeting at 2:30 p.m. in the library where we will be discussing our Safe School Plan, technology possibilities for the school, and upcoming District mandates. On Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. Hale Middle School will be hosting a parent training in regards to the District’s A-G Career and College Readiness requirements. All are welcome to attend and this is a great opportunity to learn.

The following week will be Red Ribbon Week where our students will learn the importance of being drug free and participate in some fun school spirit activities.

I hope you all have a nice week.

This is all for now.

Your Lockhurst Principal, Mrs. DaCorsi

Pedestrian and Traffic Safety Tips

Dear Lockhurst Parents,

As you all know our children’s safety is extremely important to me each day.  With this, I am asking for everyone’s assistance when picking up and dropping off your children each day.  Below are pedestrian and traffic safety tips.

  • Always use a crosswalk, never cross in the middle of any street.
  • Students and parents are expected to USE THE CROSSWALKS AT ALL TIMES. NO JAYWALKING
  • Always look both ways before crossing, even if you’re in a crosswalk.
  • Please use caution and be considerate of other drivers. DO NOT MAKE 3-point or U-turns in the  middle of the street.
  • No double-stopping/parking. Please be respectful of our neighbors.
  • Texting while driving is illegal and unsafe. Drivers must concentrate on the road, not their cellphones.
  • Completely stop at every stop sign. We do not have crossing guards so please look out for pedestrians.
  • Slow down! Children can be unpredictable and could run out into your driving path.
  • No stopping in the middle of the road to drop off or pick up students

Car Valet Program

  • Please enter and exit the valet line cautiously. Slow down!
  • When dropping students off, use a clockwise pattern around the school, if applicable.
  • Have children exit the car from the curbside only.
  • Have your child’s backpack, lunch box, and/or musical instruments with them before they exit, not in the trunk.

Peak traffic times are between 7:40am – 8:00am and for the first 20 minutes immediately after school in the afternoons. Please be mindful of the rules above to ensure the safety of our children.

I thank you for your support with helping to keep our students and the streets around our school safe.  Please feel free to stop by the office in the morning or just prior to dismissal to pick up a valet vest to volunteer your time in the valet program.  A few minutes each day can help to prevent a situation in the future and help to enforce a safe environment for our students to come to and from school.

Please be sure to inform the office if your address changes at any time during the school year.  You will need to bring in verification of your new address (DWP bill, Gas bill, rental agreement, escrow papers, mortgage statement).

Student Emergency Information Cards are being mailed home to all students prior to the start of school.  Please fill them out, sign them and return them by the first day of school.  You can update or fill out a new card anytime during the school year.

Thank you.
